Pre-Algrebra

Problem:
Tyler and Christina are playing a game in which each player either wins, loses or draws. The winner is awarded with 5 points, and the loser loses  5 points. If it is a draw 0 points are awarded. For the first 8 rounds Tyler had the following results: lose, win, lose, win, win, lose , win ,draw. What was Christina's point total for the rounds?

How to Solve: So first i made a chart diving Tylers and Christina's Ponits :

                       Tyler :                                                                                       Christina :

Lose : -5	Win : 5
Win : 5	Lose : -5
Lose : -5	Win : 5
Win : 5	Lose : -5
Win : 5	Lose : -5
Lose : -5	Win : 5
Win : 5	Lose : -5
Draws : 0	Draws : 0

You can delete the Draws section if you want for you not to get confused. But you can also leave it but its 0, it dosent represent nothing.

So after you make the char all you have to do is add them. An easy way to add the is adding the positives and then the negatives i mean in diferent calculations. 

So we will have:

Tyler:                                                                      Cristina:

A) -5 + -5 + -5  = -15                                                           A) -5+ -5+ -5+ -5 = -20

B) 5+5+5+5 = 20                                                                    B) 5+5+5 = 15

C) 20+ (-15) = 5                                                                       C) 15+ (-20) = -5

Answer: So Tyler got 5 pts and Cristina -5 which makes Tyler the winner for 5 pts.
